Fall Favourites.

Fall invokes a lot of feelings for me. The leaves are changing from green to yellow, red and gold, the sun is still bright but not as warm, and the bugs are slowing dying (or going to sleep? hiding? who cares, they’re gone).
Fall is time for nice walks without a jacket, but maybe a sweater. Fall is back to school, new notebooks, crunchy leaves and warm, heady air. Fall reminds us all that Summer is over, and winter is coming.
Fall slowly whispers to us to get the winter jackets out, dig out the box of mittens and toques, and buy some Halloween candy even though you;ll eat the whole bag weeks before Halloween. Fall is tapping us on the shoulder, nudging us to take in these last moments of summer, to have one more picnic, to have a few more bbq’s and sit outside enjoying the evening afterwards.
Fall is trick or treating and meeting fairies, spidermans and harry potter’s. Fall is raking the lawn, clearing out the garden, putting away the summer toys and patio furniture.
Fall is cinnamon, cranking the thermostat, and flannel pyjama pants. Fall is cuddling on the couch, falling stars, and ladybugs creeping in to your house for a warm place for winter.
Fall tells us that Frosty the Snowman will be here in a few weeks (Yes, I live in Saskatchewan), and Fall gently pushes us into the shops for early Christmas shopping. I love everything there is about Fall. It’s not so ridiculous hot that you lie awake until 3am sweating until you pass out from dehydration. It’s not too cold that you need to bust out the quilt from Ikea.
When it’s Fall, most of the west nile virus assholes have died off, and most of the wasps and bees are lazy and fly into windows and walls. Fall means gorgeous colors, crisp air yet warm breezes. Fall means after dinner sunsets and late morning sunrises. Fall pinches our butts because Fall knows Thanksgiving is on it’s way, and why not gain five pounds in one sitting?

Fall is cuddles and warmth and golden colours and crunchy leaves, lady bugs and breezes, flannel pyjamas and trick or treating. Fall is cinnamon and one last picnic and lazy bees

Things I Have Learned From My Baby.

Things I have learned from Lillienne. She is a fabulous professor. She has taught me what it feels like to live with your heart outside of your body. She has shown me the beauty of pregnancy and life. From Lillienne, I have learned that I shouldn’t sing Opera-style and that she will always hate getting into her pyjamas after her bath. Lillienne has taught me how to slow down and enjoy the small things. She has taught me that love, cuddles, kisses and smiles are some of the best things in life. From Lillienne, I have learned that Dustin is capable in speaking in the exact same tone and voice as Mickey Mouse. Lillienne has taught me that if she stays up longer than two hours, she needs a nap NOW and dont fuck around. Lillienne has taught me to be a child all over again, and I’m having so much fun, probably alot more than her. From Lillienne, I have learned how to be a Mother, to care for a tiny baby, to love somebody so much more than you ever thought you could. Lillienne has taught me that a baby could be the best thing that ever happened to two people, and what the hell did those two people ever do before, without said baby? From Lillienne, I have learned to discover everything amazing in this world all over again, and I’ve learned that I was born to be her Mama.

List ten things you would say to ten different people in your life…if you had the chutzpah.

1. I would tell HER to mind her own business, and raise her own child.

2. I would tell HIM to smarten up and face the music.

3. I would tell HER to open her eyes and look around, look what she’s doing to herself.

4. I would tell HER to quit doing everything for her, put your foot down.

5. I would tell HIM I can’t believe you’re still here, you’re not good enough.

6. I would tell HER to tell everyone to shut the fuck up.

7. I would tell HER to take off the rose colored sunglasses.

8. I would tell HIM to smile more, bitch less.

9. I would tell HER you did the right thing, I knew it from the start.

10. I would tell HIM you’re a complete idiot, and you didnt know how good you had it.
