Written by Jean Freeman and illustrated by Val Lawton
Incase you don’t know, Jean Freeman was “Fitzy’s Grandmother” off of Corner Gas. I LOVED that show. GET THE F OFF MY LAWN!
And now you can have a book written by Jean Freeman – and an autographed book, at that. AWESOME! You don’t want to know what I had to do to get an autographed book from Jean Freeman. Let’s just say I’m not allowed to leave my house for six months.
This book is super cute with fun illustrations and a charming little story about a little boy who wonders where another little boy’s dog sleeps – which turns out to be anywhere he wants! I miss my dog. He liked to sleep on the floor beside our bed panting his gross hot breath into my face ever night.
This wonderful book won a Moonbeam Children’s Book Award and would make a perfect addition to any child’s story shelf. Lily enjoyed reading this book with me and turning the pages, and of course exclaiming “PUPPY! WOO WOO!” on every single page.
Enter to win! Leave a comment telling me your favourite Corner Gas episode. Or just tell me what your favourite book was as a child. My favourite? The Little Rabbit. I even had a few rabbits as pets when I got older. Then my grandpa made stew with them. Winner to be chosen by www.random.org on December 29 2010
I have some exciting news to share! Later. Also, scroll down to see who the winner is of the latest book giveaway!
I have been so busy editing and getting things back to clients in time for Christmas that I haven’t posted any of the hilarity that ensues everyday in my life in a few days. Like changing diapers and doing laundry and posting photos of my mediocre attempts at supper.
I’m so excited for Christmas. I’m going to take actual days OFF and not answer my emails or telephone. Or maybe I’ll do that in secret. But whatever.
I’m almost done my Christmas shopping. I have a few more things to buy for the nieces and I might tackle that tomorrow. After I do the laundry that is piling up in the bedrooms. The other day Lily was buried for twenty minutes when a landslide of miniature socks attacked her.
We bought Lillienne wooden musical instruments from Michael’s for Christmas. Two painted maracas, a tambourine, a stick with bells on it and I also found a little metal kazoo. REAL kids toys. Where you have to use that thing…that thing that’s called…..IMAGINATION! Remember using that?
I’m hoping to never ever introduce technological toys to her, but she already pretends to talk on my blackberry and is constantly demanding “Musigic!” on the computers and already owns a few dvd’s so I guess I’m not doing a very good job. Pretty soon she will just BBM me saying that she shit her pants, while she is simultaneously updating her Facebook status and playing Farmville, Farmtown, FarmCity, Farm-O-Rama, Farmz4Life ,Yo and various other farm games.
And the winner of the Barefoot Book’s Giveaway: commenter number 3, Tracie! I will be contacting you shortly so you can regift this awesome book! Haha. Kidding. But you totally could.
I will have a new book up for review and giveaway in a couple of days. Because it’s Christmas, and giving away free things makes my heart grow ten times, like that Grinch dude.
Mother Goose Remembers by Clare Beaton (With Sing-A-Long CD)
Published by Barefoot Books
I’m absolutely positive some little dude or gal out there is going to LOVE this book. Another book published by Barefoot Books, Mother Goose Remembers by Clare Beaton is absolutely gorgeous. It’s full of nursery rhymes (which are tons of fun!) but then the illustrations are pictures of felt shapes sewn together to create amazing scenes and images with thick, lovely stitches – I love this kind of art, there’s something very nostalgic and cozy about this book!
Lily of course will look at a manual for a blender for an hour, so she really liked this book. She loved pointing out the animals she recognized on the pages, and asked “WHAT DAT!” of the animals she didn’t. She listened politely while I belted out the nursery rhymes but I don’t think she can yet appreciate the notes I can hit.
WIN THIS BOOK. It’s free. It’s awesome. It’s Mother Goose Remembers by Clare Beaton. To enter, just leave a comment here and tell me what your favourite nursery rhyme was as a kid. Or, if you can’t remember, tell me how to potty train my child.

Yesterday when Dustin checked the mail I almost had to change my panties because my eyeshadow from http://www.mineraleyez.com/ showed up! I ordered some last monday and I was pumped I could rock some new eyeshadow at Christmastime. I ordered Canola (bright yellow), Snow Angel (a neutral with sparklies) and Grasshopper (because I love me some green). I tried it on last night and almost asked myself for my phone number. I Love it!
Lexus from mineraleyez.com tossed in a free eyeshadow as a giveaway for my blog…
So I chose Saskatoon Berr-eh (feel my love for the hometown!). It’s a beautiful color of purple that will look great on everyone! So here’s the deal – leave a comment for an entry and make sure to check out http://www.mineraleyez.com/! Most of the eyeshadow is only ten bucks, and she has blush and bronzer and eyeliners, too. FREE SHIPPING too, folks. Does it get any better?

The Ultimate Cloth
people contacted me and sent me their product to use and review. It claims to be, well, The Ultimate Cloth and it actually does work pretty good. No chemicals needed, just get it wet and go to town. Sounds like alot of my friends! Haha. Ofcourse as a Mama I am always cleaning up after something or other. The other night Lillienne projectile POOPED but that is another story. I used this cloth to do a bunch of random things in my house, and it did the job without any products from my cleaning product collection.
Look at that shine. Makes you just want to squish your face all up in that.

Sounds lovely, doesnt it?!
The site claims the toy is very safe and that celebs and their babes cant get enough of it. I have one, well, Lillienne does. She got it from Jen, my longtime BFF. Her daughter Sophia also has a Sophie the Giraffe. Well, HAD is more like it. If You have this toy in your house, PLEASE BEHEAD IT NOW. My friends daughter choked on the fucking things head. Yes, it’s soft and babies love to bite it. Babies can also fit the whole head of the giraffe in their mouth, when they have bitten down on it and the head goes flat. Then, the head can INFLATE in the babies mouth obstructing the child’s airway. This toy is dangerous and these toys may be in a baby’s crib or in the backseat with the baby in the carseat, anywhere where the baby is unsupervised, even for a few moments if this toy is around.
Please dont let your baby play with this toy. I put Lillienne’s very high up on a shelf, or throw it in the trash. Or, you can keep it around like Jen did, BEHEADED. Sophia still loves it. It wont squeak, it will still be all those wonderful things listed above but it won’t choking hazard. Please pass this message along and perhaps save a baby’s life. Jen wrote a letter to the company and I’m anxious to hear what they say.
*I found these baby yogurts at Sobeys last week.. I bought the organic vanilla hug and I love my apple pear. Lillienne LOVES these. She and I shared the first one, and I gave one to her for a snack the other day and she pretty much ate the whole container (I may have taken a few bites). A few days ago I was contacted through my blog from the good people at Stonyfield, who make the yummy YoBaby products, and they asked me to write a review. I thought it was really weird seeing as how I had just bought some of the yogurt a few days before, but whatevs. It’s awesome baby yogurt, and I’m all in for doing a review and giving away a NEAT-O prize package from YoBaby!!
