My Christmas Dinner. Booyah.

I love to cook! And it’s not often I get to cook a big, gigantic meal and I haven’t done this for a while, so I’m very excited. Also because it’s the first time Dustin & I are hosting Christmas supper, and on Christmas day! THAT’S A BIG DEAL.

This is going to take a few double rye’s.

The REAL Blair Witch House.

The directions were wrong. When you first assemble the house, the box stated to “Hold in place for 10 minutes.” Obviously they meant an HOUR, because that’s how long it took after it caved in twice and chunks of the roof fell off and I had to prop it up with books. The pictures resemble nothing of what sits on my dining room table. It’s like a creepy, abandoned farmhouse with half the roof gone, with gumdrops. Its the Blair Witch Gingerbread House.

And the winner is….Doritos! Because carbs always win. Also, the winner of the latest book giveaway is….

I have some exciting news to share! Later. Also, scroll down to see who the winner is of the latest book giveaway!
I have been so busy editing and getting things back to clients in time for Christmas that I haven’t posted any of the hilarity that ensues everyday in my life in a few days. Like changing diapers and doing laundry and posting photos of my mediocre attempts at supper.
I’m so excited for Christmas. I’m going to take actual days OFF and not answer my emails or telephone. Or maybe I’ll do that in secret. But whatever.
I’m almost done my Christmas shopping. I have a few more things to buy for the nieces and I might tackle that tomorrow. After I do the laundry that is piling up in the bedrooms. The other day Lily was buried for twenty minutes when a landslide of miniature socks attacked her.
We bought Lillienne wooden musical instruments from Michael’s for Christmas. Two painted maracas, a tambourine, a stick with bells on it and I also found a little metal kazoo. REAL kids toys. Where you have to use that thing…that thing that’s called…..IMAGINATION! Remember using that?
I’m hoping to never ever introduce technological toys to her, but she already pretends to talk on my blackberry and is constantly demanding “Musigic!” on the computers and already owns a few dvd’s so I guess I’m not doing a very good job. Pretty soon she will just BBM me saying that she shit her pants, while she is simultaneously updating her Facebook status and playing Farmville, Farmtown, FarmCity, Farm-O-Rama, Farmz4Life ,Yo and various other farm games.

And the winner of the Barefoot Book’s Giveaway: commenter number 3, Tracie! I will be contacting you shortly so you can regift this awesome book! Haha. Kidding. But you totally could.
I will have a new book up for review and giveaway in a couple of days. Because it’s Christmas, and giving away free things makes my heart grow ten times, like that Grinch dude.

Salt Dough Ornaments – Baby’s First Christmas

A few weeks ago I posted about how easy and economic it was to make salt dough ornaments to paint and give away as homemade Christmas ornaments. This is an ornament I made for one my nieces.  Hopefully it will be one of those ornaments that she treasures because she loves her wacky, crazy, foul-mouthed Auntie SO much.

Trimming The Tree.

This was Lillienne’s first year “decorating” the tree – AKA putting all the ornaments in one pile at the bottom of the tree.

She likes to go up close to the shiny balls and check out her distorted face.

And point to all the “NO-MAN!” decorations on the tree. (She obviously means snowman. S’s are Silly!)

Same goes for the “NO-FLAKES!” decorations.

Each morning she demands “Christmas tree, on!”, which of course means turn on the Christmas tree lights.

She hasn’t yet figured out she can eat the candy canes – more for me.

Yes, I know it’s still pretty early to decorate a Christmas tree. But Lillienne was super cranky one night last week, and we needed a very big, dramatic, entertaining and a Never Been Done Adventure! so we could all keep our sanity and make it to bedtime. IT WAS MAGICAL, PEOPLE.

Meow. I love Christmas.

Okay, I want to put up my Christmas tree.

How early is too early? Obviously March is too early. July doesn’t work because that’s MY birthday month.

I figure mid November is fair game. It’s cold, there’s snow on the ground, and lights, snowmen and holiday music make the dark, cold winter even more awesome.

I’ve already wrapped a few gifts and been painting Christmas tree ornaments for a couple of weeks. And why is it that Crayola kids paint smells like your grandfather’s OVERWHELMING cologne? I can’t even open a bottle of that shit anymore without puking a little bit in my mouth.

The Enchanted Forest is opening up in a few days and I love grabbing a Tim Horton’s coffee and going for a drive through it. I’m pretty sure we took Lily last year, but this year she won’t be in a baby car seat facing backwards in the back of a truck with tinted windows. That must’ve been AMAZING for her.

I’m not as Christmas CrAzY as I used to be. One year I cut snowflakes from paper circles for about a week straight, and hung them on string in my livingroom. Everywhere. It was a little intense. People weren’t sure if I was special and if I had nine cats holed up in my bedroom, or if I was just REALLY into Christmas. Duh. I only had one cat.

Purchase this amazing collectible, here. Perfect for that lady down the road who never opens her curtains.
