As I Break Down, Snorting Baby Powder.

Just so everyone knows, I still have a baby. She eats from a bottle. She wears diapers and sleeps alot and she is a baby. Lillienne is a baby and she will always be a baby and I might be having a hard time adjusting to the fact that the first year of her life has gone by in a blink, although I remember every first, every important moment, I have memories of her babyness stashed away that I reflect upon often BECAUSE SHE IS GOING TO BE ONE IN A FEW WEEKS. And she is the first baby to have ever grown up and this is a big deal and all that other dramatic flair. It’s a huge thing. One already? Come on. Wasn’t it just yesterday that all she could do was lie on her back and grunt and flail her arms and legs? Wasn’t she just dozing in her fisher price swing a few weeks ago? Wasn’t I just crying for a double cheeseburger in my eight month of pregnancy the other day?

This video is (surprise) late; She has grown five feet and is now in heels on her way to taking over the world since this video was compiled last week.

WTF

WTF is with Little Chocolatiers – Seriously? Yes they are Little People (or LP’s, or Lizzle Pizzles) and they have jobs. Gasp. This show sounds like a direct Oompa Loompa hit.
WTF, that cookie batter I got from my mom is a potential cankle. 140 calories per cookie. WTF, she might as well gave me a framed photo of the back of my thighs. Thanks, Ma. Although they were yummy.
WTF is with that she-he dude thing woman/man on Deadwood? It gives me bad dreams. And seriously, Westerns aren’t cool.*****

*****Unless it’s that one Back to the Future movie where Michael J. Fox is super cute in his tassled shirt. Remember?

And This Is How Wonderful She Is.

Today, my handsome life partner of a boyfriend turned another year older. He’s 3 and a half years younger than me (I know! Lock me up!), but sometimes I feel like the young one. He’s got such an old soul. He’s full of answers and practicality, he’s patient and loving and the greatest Dad Lillienne could ever ask for (if she could talk). After he got home from work tonight we played with Lillienne, then we ordered some pizza (for his birthday supper he says he wanted chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy [and not gravy from a packet, either. that real stuff], but come on, that secretly must mean “honey, for my birthday supper, please don’t cook. pick up the phone and order something with cheese because I know you’ve been dieting etc etc etc) and then we had some hot chocolate and birthday cake with a sparkler in it. We exchanged kisses and kissed Lillienne and watched some tv and enjoyed the evening. Tonight, as I was wiping Lillienne’s face clean after her bedtime munchies, Dustin said “This has been the best birthday I’ve ever had.” – And I am pretty sure that little munchkin with Similac and Mush with Apple Flakes on her face had something to do with that, and nothing to do with the home made card or cake with a sparkler or pizza or hot chocolate, cuddles or kisses. Happy Birthday, Dustin. We love You. xox

Grow Up. Stay Little.

“I ate how many blueberries?”

Tomorrow Lillienne will be eleven months old. In the past few weeks she has been standing up on her own and taking a few hesitant first steps. She sprouted her ninth tooth, and has mastered the art of waving hello and goodbye, clapping, shaking her head “no” and is addicted to multi grain cheerios. She loves being read to, and my days consist of Green Eggs and Ham, There’s a Wocket in my Pocket and the Little Critter books.
I am having a hard time dealing with the fact next month we will be celebrating her first birthday, although watching her grow and learn and play is the best thing in life. Were not renting a pony or a clown or having a theme, but we’re going to throw a come and go birthday bash for her….since not all family members can play nice together. It’s heartbreaking for me to think of how fast she is growing up, and how her babyness disappears just a little bit more everyday.
